南加州大學桑頓音樂學院建立于1884，洛杉磯最古老的一直運營的文化機構(gòu)，每年有超過500場的音樂會，美國唯一一所有自己的無線電廣播的音樂學院，在主流媒體定期播發(fā)。

1999年，慈善家Flora L. Thornton捐贈給學院2500萬美元，所以音樂學院被命名為Thornton School of Music USC。

南加州大學音樂學院Thornton School of Music USC目前有1072個學生，其中本科生647人，師生比：1:6。

洛杉磯交響樂團的20%的成員是Thornton School of Music畢業(yè)，或者是學校職員。

申請要求：

本科：
看重孩子的潛能和綜合能力。
IBT:需要提供，入學后參加學校的英語能力測試，根據(jù)英語能力的不同，就讀學校的英語課程。另外，托福100分是可以免除測試。
SAT批判性閱讀600分或ACT27分可免托福。
獎學金：每年有1/3的本科生獲得5000-10000美金的獎學金。

研究生：

標準化考試：
IBT：最低83分。博士及DMA需要100分。
GRE：音樂教育與早期音樂專業(yè)需要GRE成績
其他無需。
