華裔整理：加州最好的私立高中簡介

洛杉磯地區(qū)沒有最好的私立高中，只有最合適的私立高中。四所最嚴(yán)格私立高中是 Flintridge Prep, Pasadena Poly, Webb 和 Harvard-Westlake. 有些人可能會說最嚴(yán)格的就是最好的，但對于大部分學(xué)生來說這種說法不對。對于大部分學(xué)生來說這種嚴(yán)格的學(xué)校壓力過大，每晚五小時(shí)的家庭作業(yè) (腦子好使的), 加上周末，從九年級開始就用大學(xué)程度課本。再加上2到3小時(shí)的體育訓(xùn)練或者演奏練習(xí)，加上社團(tuán)，公共服務(wù)，和課外活動。在申請大學(xué)的時(shí)候，大學(xué)不會因?yàn)槟闵弦凰浅ｋy的私立學(xué)校，而對你網(wǎng)開一面，反而在這里更難拿到好成績。
最好從你所居住的周圍開始咨詢，因?yàn)槟悴粫胍刻扉_很遠(yuǎn)的路程。就算是比較不那么難的學(xué)校每晚也有3到4小時(shí)的家庭作業(yè)。有些學(xué)校有非常強(qiáng)的運(yùn)動計(jì)劃或者藝術(shù)計(jì)劃，所以選什么學(xué)校完全看你需要什么。不要太看中升學(xué)率，因?yàn)槟侵饕Q與學(xué)生而不是學(xué)校。
很多洛杉磯的天主教學(xué)校也收一部分非天主教的學(xué)生。天主教學(xué)校的費(fèi)用通常只有私立預(yù)備學(xué)校的一般, 并且學(xué)生群體比較廣泛，所以對大部分學(xué)生來說反而更好，但是所有的學(xué)生都需要上宗教課程。
申請過程從你要進(jìn)入私立學(xué)校的前一年的9月和10月開始。錄取通知書通常是三月份的第一個(gè)禮拜送出去的。如果你對學(xué)校不了解請看學(xué)校的網(wǎng)站這樣你會知道你需要做什么. 參觀日, 參觀，申請，簡歷，老師推薦書，入學(xué)考試，面試，學(xué)校生活體驗(yàn)等。。。 有些學(xué)?？赡軙?0年級空出幾個(gè)名額，但一般很少，通常寄宿學(xué)校會這樣做。大部分學(xué)校不會收11年級的學(xué)生，因?yàn)樗麄兲y跟上新學(xué)校的進(jìn)度。一般也不會收12年級的學(xué)生，除非是非常特殊的情況。
比華利山莊沒有私立學(xué)校，但是有很多富人把他們的孩子送到比華利山莊附近的很多私立學(xué)校。但是這些學(xué)校都有很多窮學(xué)生收到根據(jù)需要給與的財(cái)務(wù)補(bǔ)助，所以學(xué)校的學(xué)生是混合的，不是所有學(xué)生都是富有的。還有西邊有錢的人送他們的孩子去別的地方因?yàn)檫@些學(xué)校很好。

Harvard-Westlake’s reputation as one of the nation’s leading prep schools is built on its abundant resources and a demanding curriculum that includes 105 advanced placement sections. Mindful that universities care about more than test scores, Harvard-Westlake requires community service and offers an unusual range of extracurricular activities and classes. The Upper School in North Hollywood may not be as scenic as the Middle School in Bel-Air, but its facilities would be the envy of many colleges. The science center has an electron microscope, and the weight room is so well equipped that athletes return to work out even after they’ve graduated and turned pro. Formed by the 1991 merger of two of L.A.’s top private schools, Harvard-Westlake has twice as many high school students as most of its peers, and some parents say it can be easy for kids to get lost in such a highly competitive crowd.
